Get Annotator.

Download the app from GitHub, or install it with Homebrew.

Requires macOS 14 or later and Apple Silicon (an Apple M-series chip). Check Apple menu > About This Mac for your chip and macOS version.

Save your boards before updating. If you are screen sharing, stop before quitting Annotator: quitting removes covers.

Testing preview: 0.1.0-alpha.6

This is a prerelease for testing, with known limitations. Keep a backup of your boards.

Open the disk image and drag Annotator into Applications, or unzip the ZIP and move Annotator to Applications. Then open it from Applications. Annotator can update itself only from there. If macOS blocks it, report the exact message rather than bypassing security checks.

Install with Homebrew

Run this in Terminal. Homebrew adds the Annotator tap and downloads the app from GitHub too.

brew install --cask dorlugasigal/annotator/annotator

All tools are free. VoiceOver support and testing on other hardware are incomplete. Multi-display and screen-sharing behavior still need physical checks.

Screen zoom and live effects need Screen Recording permission. Drawing does not. Read the screen-sharing limits before using private content.
